Guest speakers from our Partner Institutions around the world are joining us this year to present the programs offered at the UHM Study Abroad Center and how they can help you with your academic, professional, and personal goals! Speak with representatives of the host institutions and a Study Abroad Center team member to have all of your questions about study abroad answered!

How to Participate
Our Virtual Fair will take place over Zoom. The schedule below has links to four separate Zoom meeting rooms. Each room will host multiple sessions throughout the day about the Study Abroad Center programs, as well as application and funding information sessions. Click on the “Room 1”, “Room 2”, or “Room 3” links to join the Zoom meeting room and view any session that interests you. Then, you can either stay in the room to see the next session, or leave the room and visit another session in a different Zoom room.
You do not need to have a Zoom account or any special programs installed; you can attend our Virtual Fair with just a web browser.
All live sessions will be recorded. Unlike previous fairs, we will not have repeat sessions in the afternoon to show the morning session recordings. The session recordings from both morning and afternoon will instead be made available to view online at a later date.
At the end of every session, a moderator will post a link to a Sign-In form. Please fill out the form to let us know about your experience with the Virtual Fair and let us know what programs interest you. We will use the information to improve future virtual events and let you know about any events for your program of interest.

Virtual Festival Schedule
Sessions are 30 minutes long with a 5-10 minute question and answer period. There is a 10-minute break between sessions, during which you are free to move to a different room.

Description: A short welcome for the guests of our festival and our guest speakers from our partner universities and Keynote Speech from Eve Millet.

The UHM Summer in Dublin program provides students an opportunity to fulfill UHM General Education Diversification, major, minor, and elective requirements. This session’s focus is on the Nursing and Public Health Program.

Program: Shanghai, China – Semester

Description: The semester program is hosted by Tongji University 同济大学 (Tóngjì Dàxué). Tongji University is a highly ranked comprehensive university in the Yangpu and Jiading districts of Shanghai. . Students on this program enroll full-time in intensive Chinese language courses at the International School of Tongji University as well as coursework taught in English in various disciplines.

Description: Our summer program is hosted by Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) 上海外国语大学 Shànghǎi Wàiguóyǔ Dàxué). SISU is one of the key Liberal Arts institutions of higher education under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, and one of the best-known universities of its kind in China. Complete a full year of UH language in this six-week summer program by taking intensive Chinese language courses in the morning and culture-related electives in the afternoon.

Program: Seville, Spain
Session: Room 2, 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM
Description: Students attend classes at the International College of Seville (ICS), with additional options to attend EUSA University of Seville (in English and Spanish), and the University of Seville (in Spanish). In the summer program, students participate in an intensive Spanish language program worth six Spanish language credits. Seville is the capital of Andalusia, a region inundated with culture and romance. Andalusia is the backdrop of Bizet’s Carmen, the intense passion and faith of Semana Santa (Holy Week), the bacchanalia and revelry of Feria, the gyrating, hand-clapping, heel-stomping ballet and the songs of love and tragedy of the flamenco.

Description: A brand new program from Istituto Lorenzo de’ Medici (LdM), where students take classes in two cities: Florence and Tuscania. In Florence, students will explore The Ancient Roots of Florence while also studying The Pursuit of Happiness. The Tuscania portion of the program will focus on Sustainable Food and Wine Business and Marketing. The program is a celebration of all that is Italian, from history, to excellence in the field of eno-gastronomy, approached from a business and marketing perspective. These courses will be complemented by two blocks of Italian Language instruction – an Italian pre-session in Florence, followed by an intensive session in Tuscania.

The UHM Summer in Berlin at Freie Universität Berlin (FUBiS) provides students an opportunity to fulfill UHM major, minor, elective, focus, foundations, diversification and foreign language requirements for graduation. Description: The University of Sydney (USYD) was founded in 1850 as a public institution of higher education, becoming Australia’s first university. It is now considered one of the top universities in Australia, ranking number one in areas such as arts and humanities, medicine, or nursing. It is also regularly ranked in the world’s top 50 universities. There are multiple campuses and research locations based all over Australia, with the Camperdown and Darlington campus being the largest, housing many of the faculties and school.

Description: Flinders University is located in the city of Adelaide, the capital of the state of South Australia. Flinders was ranked number 46 overall in the 2016 Times Higher Education Top 150 Universities under 50 years, and offers graduate and undergraduate degrees in Applied Sciences, Accounting, Arts, Biotechnology, Commerce, Developmental Disabilities, Education, Engineering, Environmental Health, Law, Liberal Studies, Medicine, Nursing, Science, Speech Pathology, Teaching and Theology. Adelaide is a city of approximately one million people and is the chief commercial, cultural and administrative center of South Australia.

Description: The Université Catholique de Lille, Institut d’Économie Scientifique et de Gestion (IÉSEG) School of Management, Paris campus, is one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in the country. IÉSEG is accredited by AACSB and ACBSP. In the semester program, UHM students may take French or other language courses, along with courses (taught in English) in Accounting, Art, Business Law, and more. Students who wish to participate in an intensive French-language track can opt to study at the Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne. The IÉSEG School of Management’s main campus is located in the modern business district La Défense, at the start of the western outskirts of Paris. In the summer program, students may take courses (taught in English) in marketing, business, and management.

Description: The host institution, Institut Francais des Alpes (IFALPES), specializes in teaching French as a foreign language and is under the French University system. Courses are taught by native speakers of French, and the focus of study is French language and culture. Students earn six UHM French language credits for coursework completed in Annecy.

Program: Lille, France

Description: Université Catholique de Lille (UCL), or the Catholic University of Lille, was founded in 1875 with the five Colleges of Law, Arts, Science, Medicine, and Theology. Engineering and Paramedical Schools were added later. Students can choose courses in French language, business, engineering, science, sustainability, or political science. Lille is a young city with a vibrant student population and offers sporting activities as well as fine museums, concerts, and theaters. It is one of France’s most dynamic towns and is only 50 minutes from Paris, one hour from Brussels, and two hours from London.

Description: The Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (UNC) is a large, prestigious university within the federal education system of Argentina. Thus, students get specialized and individualized attention from faculty at UNC. Students earn six UHM Spanish language credits from beginning through advanced levels. Students gain listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in standard Spanish. In addition, lectures on civilization and culture will be given. A charming city of 600,000 people, Mendoza is located in the West Central part of Argentina, in the foothills of the Andes mountains.

Program: Machida, Japan – Spring/Academic Year

Description: J.F. Oberlin University (桜美林大学 Ōbirin Daigaku) is a four-year university located in Machida, a suburb of Tokyo. Japanese language and Japanese area studies courses are taught in Japanese and English by JFOU professors or Japan-based, English-speaking scholars.

Description: Kōnan University (甲南大学 Kōnan Daigaku) is a private institution of approximately 7,000 undergraduate and graduate students, located in the eastern-most part of Kōbe city, a picturesque port city. Japanese language and Japanese area studies courses are taught in Japanese and English by Kōnan University professors or Japan-based, English-speaking scholars.

Program: Kobe, Japan – Summer

Description: Kōnan University (甲南大学 Kōnan Daigaku) is a private institution of approximately 7,000 undergraduate and graduate students, located in the eastern-most part of Kōbe city. Kōbe, the seventh largest city in Japan with a population of 1.5 million, is a picturesque port city which lies just northwest of Ōsaka. The summer session at Kōnan University is a six-week intensive Japanese language program where UHM students complete the second-year level of Japanese language (JPN 211 & 212), ideal for students who want to get their language requirement done quickly. The Japanese language teachers are native speakers with graduate training in Japanese linguistics or the teaching of Japanese as a second language.
