Students have the choice of living either in student dormitories or with French host families.
Dormitory: The dormitory "Les Marquisats" is located in the same building as the school, on Lake Annecy. Two students share a room with an attached bath and toilet. Students may request a single room at an additional cost. Common areas house public telephones for outgoing calls, a launderette, a TV room and vending machines. Each floor also has a communal kitchen designed for self-catering meals.
Homestay: Students may also live with French host families in single rooms. Students can choose to take breakfasts or breakfasts and dinners with the family. Weekend lunches may be provided by the family, upon request by the student, at an additional cost.
A
major value of the homestay is that it provides students
with the opportunity to closely interact with and
learn from host country nationals. In addition to
taking students beyond the public faces of the French,
the daily contact with everyday French language in
a natural setting facilitates students' understanding
of the culture and enhances language learning. Students
living with families need to be flexible, and realize
that a French "family" may not indicate a nuclear
family that will include the student as a member.
