Upon arrival in Angers, students take a placement
examination and accordingly are assigned to language
classes at their appropriate levels. Students earn credits from first to fourth level of French:

199 (First Level French Abroad) (6 credits)
Intensive courses of full-time instruction in France at the beginning level in French language and culture.
Fulfills second-year foreign language requirement
at UHM.

260 Second Level French Abroad (6 credits)
Intensive courses of full-time instruction in France
at the second-year level in French language and culture.
Pre: 102. Fulfills second-year foreign language requirement
at UHM.

360 Third Level French Abroad (6 credits)*
Intensive courses of full-time formal instruction
in France at the third-year level in French language
and culture. Pre: 202 or 260. Fulfills UHM French
major, certificate, or upper division elective credit
requirements.

460 Fourth Level French Abroad (6 credits)*
Intensive courses of full-time formal instruction
in France at the fourth-year level in French language
and culture. Pre: 360 or one 300-level French course.
Fulfills UHM French major, certificate, or upper division
elective credit requirements.

as UHM courses.
